I'm not a huge Psychology buff, but I do admire Carl Rogers quite a bit.
As a coach/teacher/and an amateur athlete myself, I have always been interested in motivation, and Rogers seems to explain motivation for learning and to be honest, really anything better than most.
Basically, and I'm paraphrasing and putting in a nutshell Rogers believed that "All learning is self motivated." His theory was very "learner based" which is interesting as we move forward in our technological world, and the face of education is changing in that direction.
Finally, Some of my favorite Roger's Quotes:
- "The only person who cannot be helped is that person who blames others."
- "The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn - and change"
- "The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination."
